Frequently Asked Questions
What is a divorce coach?
A divorce coach works as a member of your team to support you at any stage of your divorce journey to help you process emotions, make smart decisions and avoid costly mistakes. There is no winner in divorce, but you can make confident decisions and stay in control.
The American Bar Association defines it as: “Divorce coaching is flexible, goal-oriented process designed to support, motivate, and guide people going through divorce to help them make the best possible decisions for their future, based on their particular interests, needs, and concerns.”

What is the difference between a therapist and coach?
A therapist is an expert trained in the use of psychological methods for the treatment of mental or emotional problems. A coach is a thinking partner who helps a client to be clear on what they want, develop awareness about themselves and work on focusing moving forward.
Does a divorce coach replace my lawyer?
No, your divorce coach does not replace your lawyer, but works alongside them as a member of your team. You still need a specialist in family law for legal advice. However, by processing and prepping with your coach, clients are able to engage with their lawyer more efficiently.

When you have clarity about your goals and priorities and can communicate those clearly to your lawyer, this allows them to do their job more effectively subsequently leading to better outcomes, less legal costs and reduced emotional strain.
